The epidemic has triggered a series of chain reactions in the shipping industry.

In addition to the difficulty of crew changing shifts, lack of ships and containers, soaring freight rates and port congestion, port cargo theft is also increasing.

Due to the congestion in the port, a large number of container goods are stored in the yard for a long time, or because they cannot be loaded on board or transported out of the port in time - these overstocked goods are targeted by some robbers and thieves.

Some time ago, a number of theft incidents occurred in the west American port, which has a large backlog of containers.

Recently, an unprecedented robbery occurred in a Mexican port. 20 containers of gold, silver ore and high value-added electronic products were robbed.

The media called it "the largest robbery in history".

The Mexican employers' Federation disclosed on June 13 that a group of robbers robbed 20 freight containers in the cargo stacking area of the port of Manzanillo in western Mexico a few days ago.

The goods contained included semi refined gold, silver ore and television sets - the value of the looted goods was so great that the media were shocked

Mexican media reported that at least 12 armed robbers broke into a cargo yard near the port of Manzanillo on the 5th. After controlling the security personnel of the port of Manzanillo by force, they spent several hours checking about 50 containers in the yard, locked 20 of them with expensive and heavy goods, and then hoisted the containers onto the trucks they parked nearby and escaped. At present, the whereabouts of the stolen containers and their contents are unknown.

According to the associated press, stolen goods such as televisions can soon be sold on the black market in Mexico, but it is not clear where the robbers can transfer tons of semi refined gold and silver ore, because any smelter may ask the source.

Agence France Presse quoted local media as saying that this was the largest robbery in history and could be called "the great robbery of the century".
